Birmingham, Al. - Albany State head coach Chris Cameron says the SIAC Tournament is a new season.
His ninth seeded Rams sure played like it in their 91-77 first round win over Kentucky State.
Albany State, plaqued with cold first half shooting throughout the season, shot 54% in the first half when they scored 51 points.
The Thorobreds shot just 21% from the field in the first 20 minutes.
James Clark led the Rams with 23 points and all-SIAC guard Scheraun King scored 18.
Albany State will play top seed Benedict on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Rams play Clark Atlanta at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Albany State Lady Ram forward Nikia Trice was a first team selection to the women's all-SIAC basketball team.
