Albany - Not everyone in the South Coast League that dreams of making the majors is a player.
One of those who wants to make it as a coach or manager is Buddy York.
The South Coast League announced Tuesday afternoon York will be the manager for the South Georgia Peanuts for this coming season.
It is the first professional managerial job for York.
York was the volunteer pitching coach for manager Wally Backman last year when the Peanuts had the top ranked pitching staff in the South Coast League.
With Backman now managing Joliet in the Northern League, York is hoping to lead the Peanuts to a second straight South Coast League title and show major league organizations he is worthy of a job in their farm system.
Buddy York said "I hope I have showed I have a lot of ability to do this. It has just been a long time dream for me to be involved in baseball at this level."
Buddy York is already working on filling out his roster and says Peanuts coach Bubber Birdsong will be on his staff this summer.
All four teams in the SCL will have new managers.
Chad Parker will manage the Macon Music.
Reggie Harris is the skipper in Anderson and Greg Mucerino is the manager of the Aiken Foxhounds.
