Atlanta -- The writing on the wall was clear, and one day after the Falcons signed running back Michael Turner to a six-year, $34.5 million deal, Warrick Dunn was released by Atlanta.
The veteran running back became just the 22nd player in NFL history to rush for over 10,000 yards in his career last year.
The 33-year-old Dunn spent six seasons with the Falcons, making the pro bowl three times in his 11-year career.
Dunn rushing for a personal best 1,416 yards in 2005, but ran for just half that total in last season's dismal campaign.
Warrick Dunn is the third-leading rusher in franchise history, rushing for 5,979 yards.
Gerald Riggs is the teams all-time leader with 6,631.
