APD detective loses shield over soliciting case

March 3, 2008

Albany -- A former Albany Police officer pleaded guilty Monday to using his police vehicle to pick up a prostitute.

But 37-year-old Derrick Cade won't serve any time in prison. He was sentenced to 12 months probation and ordered to stay away from the woman who turned him in.

Cade, who resigned from APD shortly after his arrest, must also surrender his police certification.

Cade was an investigator, who worked more than 10 years for the Albany Police Department.
