Valdosta - A Valdosta man is in jail charged with leading police on a high speed chase.

Monday, they're questioning him about what was found inside the car.

Police say they spotted 20-year old Antonio Gifford driving backwards on North Troupe Street Sunday night.

When he tried to pull him over, Gifford took off and led them on a chase through South Valdosta.

Gifford lost control of his car and overturned on Wooding Lane, then he and two passengers jumped out and ran.

Gifford was caught a few blocks away and the officer found a b-b gun, box cutter and a bulletproof vest inside the car.

"I don't believe bullet proof vests are real easy to get. So that's one of the things that makes this case interesting to us is where this came from and for what purpose did they have the vest," says Lt. Bobbi McGraw of the Valdosta Police.

Police are still searching for the other two passengers. They are asking anyone with any information to call the Valdosta Police Department.

Anonymous tips are welcome.
