Milledgeville -- The Deerfield Windsor boys basketball team lost just one game the entire year.
Unfortunately for the Knights, the loss coming in the last game of the season.
Deerfield suffered a tough 66-64 loss to North Cobb in the GISA class AAA championship game Saturday night, as Andre Young's heave for the win fell short at the buzzer.
The Knights bid for the schools fifth state championship was ended by an Eagles team celebrating its third in the last four seasons.
This years championship was almost a carbon copy of last years semifinals, as a three-pointer by Young would rim-out to send North Cobb to the title match.
The Eagles have been the thorn in the side of Deerfield the past two years, as the Knights have lost just three games, all to North Cobb.
Andre Young says, "It's always a close game when you're playing against North Cobb. They come out here and play their 'A' game, and we try to leave it all on the court."
Head coach Gordy Gruhl adds, "The bottom line is we didn't get the job done. You start talking about the 'Best Team Ever,' and all that stuff, we didn't quite get the job done. It was an outstanding basketball team that had an outstanding year, and I'm very proud of them."
Deerfield ends the season with a record of 27-1.
