Albany-- History came to life today at an Albany elementary school. Morningside Elementary students sang and danced as part of a black history celebration. They celebrated the achievements of African Americans who changed history. People such as Dr. Martin Luther King Junior, Harriet Tubman, and George Washington Carver.

"We are so happy that our students were able to come here and see what has happened in the past and what is going to happen in the future and see what is happening right now in the present" said event chairperson Wanda Cheeks.

The program also featured performances by the Turner Job Corps Gospel Choir, the Dougherty County High School Jazz Band, Chorale, Cheerleaders and drummers.
