Albany - Albany Tomorrow's search for a new executive director will go further than the downtown manager's office.
ATI Chair Dr. C. W. Grant talked to downtown manager Don Buie and City Manager Alfred Lott about having Buie also run ATI , but Grant says he stopped those talks because of legal concerns.
"On the advice of council, we were told that it would be a conflict of interest that we simply couldn't overcome. Of course Mr. Buie is an outstanding professional and if we would have been able to do it we would have been happy to have done it," Grant said.
Dr. Grant said the search for an executive director is ongoing and the executive committee will go back and look through resumes previously received.
Kenneth Weaver agreed to resign as executive director at the end of January after just three months on the job, because he wasn't meeting expectations.
