Americus-  Jurors got the case at noon Wednesday and continue to deliberate in a murder trial in Americus.

Shavis Neal is charged with murder and four counts of aggravated assault for a July 2006 shooting at the Americus Elk's Lodge. After closing arguments Wednesday morning, Judge George Peagler charged the jury.

Tuesday, Neal took the stand and testified he fired a gun from a car at the Elk's Club because he thought Christopher Thomas was coming after him. Three people were wounded and 19-year old Dekeildric Thorton was killed.

In another Americus murder case, an extradition hearing was held Wednesday in Alabama. Johnny Ray Cochran was stopped on an Alabama Highway in September and arrested for the death of Melony Strickland.

Cochran was considered a suspect shortly after Strickland was found shot to death in her Middle River Road home last August. Cochran is fighting the extradition.
