Albany- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is bringing back golf.
The SIAC is also bringing their conference golf tournament to Albany.
SIAC commissioner William Lide and Mayor William Adams signedthe agreements that brings the SIAC tournament to the Flint River Golf Course for the next three years on Tuesday.
Currently, only six of the SIAC's 12 schools have golf programs.
That number will grow to seven when Claflin becomes a full time member of the SIAC next year.
Dr. William Lide said "We wanted a host this championship in a place that really wanted it and really wanted to enjoy golf as a program. It was really great to see the city of Albany put in a bid."
Albany State athletic director Dr. Joshua Murfree said ASU will field a co-ed team in next year's SIAC golf tournament.
SIAC golf tournament starts on April 20th and runs through the 23rd.
