Cavs stage big rally but come up one run short

February 25, 2008

Albany - Darton baseball coach Glenn Eames summed up it best when he said the big inning killed his Cavalier team in a 9-8 loss in ten innings to the defending NJCAA champion Chipola Indians.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but the two teams moved it to Monday since the weather forecast for Tuesday called for rain.

After Darton ace Dexter Bobo held Chipola scoreless for five innings, the Indians scored seven times in the sixth with Darton committing four errors in the game.

Darton would score five runs on one hit in the ninth inning to force extra innings.

In the frame, Chipola pitchers walked in two runs with the bases loaded.

Darton's Adam Duncan singled in a run and Jake Summers reached on an error that scored the tying run.

Chipola scored two runs in the tenth and Darton got one in their final at-bat.

Darton opens GJCAA play this weekend with a three game series at Cavalier Field against Georgia Perimeter.
