Albany - For the first time in five years, both Deerfield-Windsor basketball teams have made it to the GISA final four.
While everyone has assumed the undefeated Deerfield-Windsor boys would make it to Milledgeville, the Lady Knights have are back in the semifinals for the first time in three years.
Deerfield-Windsor will play Stratford on Friday night.
The same team the Lady Knights played in their last trip to Georgia College's Centennial Center in 2005.
The Lady Knights are familiar with Milledgeville having cheered for the boys team for the last two years.
During that time, the Lady Knights hoped they would get their chance to play for a state title.
Senior guard Shelby Cosby said "We cheer for them every single time. We hope they do their best. We are especially excited we are there with them this year."
Lady Knights head coach Larry Collins said "Anytime you get to this point. You have to deal a little bit with anxiety. I think all of us have been in that boat before whether it is the region championship or close state quarterfinals game. Hopefully that experience we have had in the last couple of years will pay off for us."
Deerfield-Windsor girls play Friday night at 8:30 p.m. against Stratford.
Deerfield-Windsor boys play Thursday at 8:30 p.m. against Riverside Military.
Deerfield-Winsdor is one of three area schools to get both of their teams in the final four. Brookwood boys and girls are in the AA semifinals and Fullington boys and girls are in the class a semis Thursday and Friday at Georgia College.
