Waters receding at Reed Bingham

February 25, 2008

Adel - The waters at Reed Bingham State Park crested early Monday morning and are finally dropping now.

Rangers say the weekend flooding was the worst since 1994 and they say we're not in the clear yet.

Forecasters predict more rain this week which could make the flooding even worse.

"If we get a lot of rain, and I don't know how much is forecasted but if we get a lot of rain on top of this, it's going to bounce back up and come up quicker then it did last week too because it's already up above normal," Park Manager Chet Powell.

Powell hopes to re-open the lake Tuesday and have the nature trails cleaned up and ready by the weekend.
