Sylvester  --  A Sylvester Police officer is recovering after being hit by a car that deputies were chasing.

Officer Tracy Jones was standing outside his police car at Carter Road and Peach Avenue, when a car driven by 23-year-old Reginold Fluellen, Jr. struck him.

Officer Jones was bruised, but will recover. We're told he fired three shots at Fluellen's car, but didn't hit him.

Fluellen was running from a Worth County Sheriff's deputy who pulled him over on Highway 82, west of Sylvester. Fluellen was arrested after a foot chase through a Sylvester mobile home park.

He's charged with traffic offenses, driving with a suspended license, Driving Under the Influence, and aggravated assault on a police officer.

Fluellen told the deputy he's AWOL from the Marine Corps base, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
