Man caught trying to steal junk cars

February 21, 2008

Thomasville--  A Thomas county man was caught trying to steal cars.  But not by driving away with them.

Sheriff's Investigators say it appears 24-year-old Michael Hightower sold people cars right out their own yards.

Lt. Guy Winkelmann with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office says, "On the one we got him on, he scoped out the car, sold it to a recycling metal yard. They had a tow truck come get it because they thought they bought it legitimately."

Investigators say Hightower had already sold one car with plans to sell two more when he was arrested.

He was also found with cocaine and is charged with intent to sell it.
