Total Lunar Eclipse over South Georgia

February 20, 2008

Albany -- An amazing sight was in the sky over South Georgia Wednesday night as sky watchers got to see a total lunar eclipse. It's the last one for the next 3 years.

Fortunately, there was good weather across much of Southwest Georgia, where there was a decent view of the eclipse.

A total lunar eclipse only happens when the sun, the Earth and the moon are in a perfect line. The next total lunar event that we will be able to see here in America - mark your calendars for December 21, 2010.
