Albany -- The Westover boys basketball team will have a bit of a rematch Friday night, as they host Thomson in the opening round of the state tournament.
The Patriots and Bulldogs met in the second round last season, with Thomson coming back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to eliminate Westover 79-74.
That game was played at the Lumpkin Center in Columbus.
This year, the Patriots will get the Bulldogs on their home court, and Westover head coach Dallas Smith says he hasn't forgotten the disappointing defeat.
"Well it's motivation for me," Smith says, with a smile. "But we're dealing with 14, 15, 16 year old kids. Hopefully it motivates them because I try to tell them, 'Remember that feeling last year.' Now they're coming into our home, and hopefully we'll be able to step up a little bit better."
