Dougherty County --  No alcohol license for an East Dougherty pool hall.

Commissioners say the owners' criminal background makes it too risky to allow him to serve alcohol at Egg's Billiards on Sylvester Road.

James Epler, Jr applied for the alcohol beverage consumption license for the business, but commissioners unanimously denied it.

"The Chief of Dougherty County Police discovered some criminal activity in the applicants past. And we felt rather then compound the problem with alcohol and bad illegal activities that we would move to deny on his recommendation," said District 4 Commissioner, Dr. Charles E. Lingle.

Dougherty Police Chief, Don Cheeks, made the recommendation to deny Epler's license for Egg's Billiards during last weeks county commission meeting.
