Lowndes County - One of the five people running for Lowndes County sheriff is dropping out of the race.

Calvin Troy says he doesn't want to run against his friend, Quitman Police Captain Roy Hart.

Troy and Hart currently work together as Quitman Police Officers.

Troy's withdrawal leaves Roy Hart, Lowndes County Sheriff's Captain JD Yeager and retired state troopers Chris Prine and Freddie Taylor in the race.

Ashley Paulk is retiring after 16 years as Lowndes Sheriff.
