Albany --  A former State Representative plans to run for Albany's senate seat.   John White, who served in the Georgia House of Representatives for 22 years is running for State Senate District 12, currently held by Michael Meyer von Bremen.

White says after years of being out of the political arena, friends encouraged him to get back in. He says one of his priorities would be housing.

"Southwest Georgia is next to the poorest area of the state and there's terrible housing needs all over these counties," White said.

Meyer von Bremen hasn't said whether he plans to run for re-election. His name has been mentioned as a possible candidate in a superior court judge's race.

He's at the legislative session in Atlanta and couldn't be reached for comment.
