Albany - Nothing says I love you like a dozen blood red roses, except maybe giving blood.

The American Red Cross is in desperate need of donors. Flu and cold season has lowered the number of people donating blood at the Albany center. Right now, in a Valentine's inspired event, if you donate blood or platelets, you could win flowers for a year.

Andrea Tatum said, "We are still in a severe blood shortage and we need everyone to come out that is eligible to donate." If you can't make it out during the week, the donor center on Dawson Road is now even open on Sunday to take your donation from noon until 5 PM.
