Valdosta - West Georgia's Dominc Cranford hit a jumper at the buzzer to give the Lady Wolves a 55-53 win over Valdosta State Monday night at the VSU complex.
The Lady Blazers trailed by 15 at halftime but opened the second half with a 29-12 run to take their first lead of the game.
The two teams swapped the lead back and forth after that until Cranford hit her game winning shot at the buzzer.
West Georgia (21-2, 8-0) now has a three game lead over Valdosta State (19-4, 5-3) in the Gulf South Conference's Eastern Division standings and the Lady Wolves also have the tiebreaker by winning both regular season meetings.
The men's game also went down to the wire with West Georgia winning 79-78 on Terrence Hundley's jumper with 2.5 seconds to play.
It capped an incredible comeback by the Wolves who were down by 18 points int he first half.
Devario Hudson scored a career high 32 points for the Blazers (13-9, 5-3) who play the first of three straight road games Saturday at North Alabama.
