Albany -- Metal theft continues to be an ongoing problem in Downtown Albany. Friday afternoon Albany Fire Department Arson Investigator Sam Harris noticed a man crawling out from under this house on North Washington Street with the galvanized water pipes.

Harris called Police and arrested 59-year old Johnny Willis for metal theft.

Many old homes like this have already been stripped of copper wiring, but now the thieves are taking any metal they can find. Albany Fire Department Investigator Sam Harris  "where they are getting a small amount for the cast iron and the galvanized piping and the tin off the roof, or any other metal they can steal, it's costing the home owner and business owners a tremendous amount of money to replace it."

Willis is being held in the Dougherty County Jail.
