Valentine's Day means extra help

February 11, 2008

Albany-  It's just four days until Valentine's Day and local florists have hired extra hands to help with deliveries.

The morning delivery scheduled at Hadden's Flowers is nearly full for the 14th.

Owner Anne Gray hired seven extra drivers and four extra designers to help her out with the additional orders. Even with higher gas prices, getting extra drivers wasn't difficult.

"Everyone is looking for a little extra something to do right now, sometimes they don't have quite enough work and they want to fill in and do a little extra and we also give them a little extra for their gas because the prices are a little higher right now," said Anne Gray, Hadden's Flowers Owner.

Anne Gray expects to prepare two to three thousands roses for delivery before the close of business Thursday, but it doesn't have to be roses for Valentine's Day. They'll do plenty of other arrangements including bears with candy.
