Fitzgerald -- Fitzgerald cheerleading coach Angela Davis has been named "High School Female Coach of the Year" by the Georgia Women Intersports Network.
Davis won the award at the 2008 National Girls and Women in Sports Day Banquet, hosted by Georgia W.I.N.
Angela Davis has coached cheerleading at Fitzgerald for the past thirteen years.
In addition to cheering on the football and basketball teams on Friday nights, the Hurricane competition cheerleaders won the state championship in 2005, and have been region champions for the past six years in a row.
Davis was a finalist for the Outstanding Female Coach Award last year, before winning the honor this season, and says she's just part of the cheerleading pyramid. "
It means a lot for the competitive cheerleading program," says Davis. "It's kind of an honor for all the girls, and all the teams we've have the past 13 years, and how hard they worked. I have to share the honor with them, too."
Davis the head coach for the Hurricanes football, basketball, competition, and JV cheerleaders.
