Darton College Hosts Regional Fair

Updated:

February 8, 2008

Albany -- Some of the top science students from 16 counties showed off their smarts at Darton College.

Exhibits at the regional science and engineering fair ranged from a project studying the drought's effects on cotton, to this student-developed hovercraft.

About 180 students competed.

About 40 of them will go on to compete in the State fair in Athens.

A Darton chemistry professor says they couldn't pull off the event without help from the community.

"We get a lot of help from the community with judges, and support from businesses and we thank them very much for their support," said Mike May, Ph.D., Darton Professor of Chemistry.

Two grand award winners in the Senior division will get an all-expenses paid trip to the International science fair in Atlanta.
