Albany - It's Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. At a noon Mass at St. Teresa's In Albany, worshipers were marked with an ash cross on their heads, a sign of repentance.
Lent is the 40 -day period before Easter when many Christians fast, pray, and do charity work. Father Finbar Stanton "Easter is so huge, so large so wonderful that you just can't come at it the night before. You have to prepare for it like you prepare for anything wonderful in your life. Like a marriage, for example, you prepare for months for a marriage, or for a child, you prepare for months. So for us in the Christian tradition we spend 40 days in preparation for the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ."
