Albany - Dougherty County Commissioners update the zoning ordinance. Commissioners say the changes to the ordinance will make it more user friendly. There's more flexibility for development, and areas like downtown are more pedestrian friendly.
Alycen Whiddon said, "We've just made it simpler and clearer and easier to understand. First of all, it's lighter. It's not as heavy because we've taken out the things that are redundant and we've updated it with some of the state law requirements."
The updated ordinance will also make it easier for property owners to get a variance, and will streamline some of the paperwork involved.
