Teen arrested after going to police

January 31, 2008

Albany --  Albany Police arrested an Albany teen for making false statements involving the murder of 52-year old John Barbre. It's the second time he's been accused of lying in a murder investigation.

Albany Police were looking for 19-year-old Kentrell Marquis Barney. He went to the Police Station Thursday morning and was questioned for hours. Investigators charged Barney with giving a false statement.

Barbre was found... Beaten and barely conscious... Outside an east Albany library two weeks ago. He died a couple of days later. Barbre helped lead investigators to suspects in the murder of former paramedic Jack Camp last year.

Barney was also indicted for making false statements in that case. Albany Police continue to say they have not found any connection between Barbre's murder and the fact that he was set to testify in the Camp case.
