County boards need candidates

January 28, 2008

Albany --  A Dougherty County Commissioner says if people want to have an impact on the community, they need to get involved.

The County Commission makes dozens of appointments to various boards each year, but this year, they've struggled to fill positions on at least three boards, because no one has applied.

The Joint Gas Board, Plumbing Board, and Albany Area Community Service Board all have vacancies, but no applicants.

"I was taught that when you lived in a community, you owed dues back to the community.  These boards are not that involved, it's not like you're giving your life up totally.  I think it's just essential that people get out there and do the job," says County Commissioner Dr. Charles Lingle.

If you are interested in serving on any of the three boards, contact the county clerk at 229-431-2121.  See more information here.
