Albany --  Police Lt. Benita Childs will make the announcement Saturday at noon at Ray Charles Plaza.

Childs joins Dougherty County Sheriff's Capt. Kevin Sproul as the only two declared candidates.

Dougherty County Sheriff's Capt. Tim Hannington and Albany Police Lt. James Williams have been mentioned as candidates, but neither has formally tossed his hat in the ring.

Sheriff Jamil Saba is retiring after more than 20 years in the office.
