Americus --  As Albany and Dougherty County host the Quail Unlimited event for another year, business and state leaders will be picking up their guns in Americus for the 17th annual Griffin Bell Quail Hunt.

Local store signs welcomed industry and state government leaders, including Lt. Governor Casey Cagle to town for the hunt.

The event kicked off Friday at noon at the Windsor Hotel, and is a vehicle to showcase the community's assets.

"This is the 17th annual event that we've had in which we're able to showcase our community to the statewide developers and leaders," says Mayor Barry Blount.

The hunt is also an opportunity for many to see how Americus has recovered since the tornado March first.
