Albany-  The Southwest Georgia Regional Development Center will be counting south Georgia's homeless in an effort to get help to those who need it.

Starting next week, The RDC will be contacting volunteer and organizations in 14 southwest Georgia counties to get an accurate count of the homeless. It won't be easy, many live under bridges or in their cars, or with friends, but with help from organizations like the Albany Rescue Mission representative hope to get an accurate count.

"This information will be provided to the state and with this information being tabulated we're hoping for more grant funding to provide to the communities to help with the homeless persons," said Quajaulon Williams, Assistant Project Coordinator.

In Georgia over 23,000 individuals are homeless at any one time for 30 to 90 days.
