Albany -- One of South Georgia's biggest tourism economic events of the year, The 22nd Annual Quail Unlimited Celebrity Hunt, gets underway Thursday in Albany. But this year the events will be hosted at Darton College.

Dozens of tables and chairs were being set up Wednesday morning at the Darton Athletic Complex, for the Quail Unlimited events.

For the last 20 years Quail Unlimited has hosted those events at the Albany Civic Center, but rate increases to use the Civic Center caused Quail Unlimited Officials to change.

There was concern that the Celebrity Hunt might move to another South Georgia city because of those rate increases, but Quail Unlimited President Rocky Evans says that is the last thing they wanted to do. Evans said "this is where we want to be. We have to do everything we can, this is a business, at the same time to contain our costs. And so when we looked at Darton we saw a facility that's a little bit newer and I think it will serve our needs."

The Celebrity Hunt is Quail Unlimited's largest fund raiser of the year. The organization uses that money to preserve habitat for game birds and other wildlife, to preserve the hunting tradition.

About 45 celebrities from Hollywood, sports, and music will hunt on 40 South Georgia plantations to raise money for Quail Unlimited.
