Albany -- The Darton softball team begins its season in a little over two weeks, but is already preparing for next year.
First-year head coach David Dews signed his first recruiting class with the Lady Cavs Tuesday.
It was a full house at Darton College, as the Lady Cavaliers welcomed ten new players into the softball program.
The only future Cavalier not in attendance hails from New Jersey.
Head coach David Dews says, "They all wanted to get together and get to know each other as little bit. We always pride ourselves on team chemistry."
Lowndes senior Lauren Revels says the success of the Darton program is a big draw.
"I didn't want to go just for school," says Revels, "I wanted to be part of a good program. Maybe this can step me up to the next level."
Dews says, "Our goal is to win a national championship every year. I feel like we're starting to make strides in the right direction."
Dews is in his first year with the Lady Cavs, but is already making an impact.
"I really like the coaches," says Revels. "They seem like this is more than just a job, it's their life. I look forward to being a part of the program."
Revels says it's nice to have a college decision out of the way.
"It feels good to not have to worry about recruiting anymore," says the Lady Viking senior. "I can finish off the season just getting better."
Dews has high expectations for this class when they arrive on campus next year.
"I don't sign them just because they're good kids," says the coach. "They can play. They're all pretty highly recruited players, and we feel awfully lucky to get all of them."
The signees are pitcher Hannah Billingsley from First Presbyterian High School, outfielder Kristen Broadway from Lowndes, infielder Breanna Colson from Hawkinsville, outfielder Alix Cooper from Loganville, and Tiftarea outfielder Lauren Cox.
Pitcher Brandi Jablonski of Northgate also signing with the Lady Cavs, as well as Monroe Township (NJ) pitcher Carly Keane, Lowndes pitcher Lauren Revels, Thomas County Central infielder Kaitlyn Stone, and infielder Erika Valez of North Forsyth.
Darton opens the season February 7th in Florida, and plays its first home game February 19th.
The Lady Cavaliers return all but two sophomores to next years team.
