Bainbridge -- An early morning house fire in Bainbridge has claimed the life of an 89-year-old woman.

Bainbridge Fire units were called out to a home in the 600 block of Monroe Street around 5:45 Sunday morning.  Arriving crews found the house completely involved.

Fire crews from Decatur County and volunteers from Climax and Blackjack assisted BFD with the fire which took nearly an hour to control.

Inside they found the body of 89-year-old Cutie Mae Gardner. State fire investigators were called out to the scene. Officials say the cause of the fire might have been electrical.

Gardner is the third South Georgian to die in a house fire this weekend.
