Lady Blazers ready for top 25 showdown

January 18, 2008

Valdosta - The stakes are always big when Valdosta State and West Georgia are competing against each other.

But they are really big when the two school's women's basketball teams meet  Saturday night in Carrollton.

The Lady Blazers have won 10 straight and are ranked fifth in the nation.

The Wolves from West Georgia have cracked the national division two polls at number 25 thanks to a six game winning streak.

The good news for Lady Blazer head coach Kiley Hill is that he has had a week to get his squad ready for this big showdown.

Kiley Hill  said "They are very athletic. He does a great job. Coach Rhodes does a tremendous job. We have matchup problems with them. Hopefully, we will be able to get on the practice floor and get a little better and see what happens. "

The VSU women play West Georgia at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Carrollton.

The men will play at 7:30 p.m..
