Americus-  Sumter Regional Hospital will get $300,000 from the federal government for hurricane resistant windows for the new hospital.

Money for the project was approved this week by the President as part of a Homeland Security measure. Sumter Regional had hoped for additional money for more projects, but that money was not included in this bill.

Demolition of the hospital continues. Construction on the new hospital is expected to begin late this year with construction taking several years.
