Man assaulted at East Albany library

January 15, 2008

Albany -- Police are investigating what they believe was another aggravated assault Tuesday morning in front of an East Albany library.

Two Dougherty High Students, walking to school about 7:30, found a man with a serious head injury.

Police say 52 year old John Lewis Barbre was found kneeling in front of the Tallulah Massey Library on Stratford Drive, with a serious head injury. The two students asked if he needed help, but he was unresponsive.

They ran to their school and told administrators, who called Police.

Investigators are calling Barbre's case an aggravated assault, and are asking for the public's help.

If you have any information, call CRIME STOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
