Weaver announces as candidate for judgeship

January 15, 2008

Albany -- It's official, Municipal Court Judge Willie Weaver is running for a superior court judgeship.

Weaver made his announcement  Tuesday surrounded by dozens of supporters.

The 50-year old Weaver, who's also a school board member, will run for the seat being vacated by Judge Loring Gray. Weaver said "other counties have web sites that are user friendly. They can go on and see what's going on in the court. And we have a great backlog in Superior Court, and change is what's needed."

Weaver is currently the municipal court Judge for Albany, Sylvester, Dawson, and Warwick.

Weaver is the first candidate to declare for the November 2008 election to succeed Superior Court Judge Loring Gray.
