Albany - The Westover High football family mourning the death of freshman lineman Shaquille Johnson.
The freshman died suddenly at his home Sunday night in Albany.
The cause of death has not been determined.
Shaquille Johnson played for the Westover junior varsity team and did dress for varsity games.
He suffered a knee injury during a j.v. game and had surgery last month.
Westover High head coach Jeff Caldwell says the team, especially the freshmen, took the news of Shaquille Johnson's death very hard this morning.
Grief counselors were at Westover High Monday for all students to talk with if they needed.
Coach Caldwell describes Johnson as a wonderful young man who had a lot of potential playing football.
Caldwell says even though he was injured, Johnson was always with the team providing valuable support during the Patriots run to the state quarterfinals.
Jeff Caldwell said "Shaquille was a very jovial young man. He enjoyed camaraderieship of the team aspects. That is certainly going to be missed."
Westover High will glass off Shaquille Johnson's locker to honor his memory.
