Albany - If your life depended on it, would there be an adequate supply of blood on hand at area hospitals? Officials with the American Red Cross say it's a close call. Right now, there is a limited supply of several different blood types on hand.
David Withers gives every few months. He says there's no reason not to. It's easy, he gets to relax, and it doesn't take much time. He said, "It only takes a half hour or so and a sense of giving."
Don Plageman said, "So far it is there, but it's only there because of the drives that we put on and the good people that donate."
The Red Cross is so desperate for blood, they're now accepting donations seven days a week at the donor center in Albany.
