Valdosta Mayor, City Council sworn in

January 11, 2008

Valdosta - New leaders in one of the area's fastest growing cities say they're ready to work together to keep their city moving forward.

During the first Valdosta city commission meeting of the year Thursday, Mayor John Fretti was sworn in for his second term.

Newly-elected Tim Carroll took over in District Five.

Incumbents John Eunice, Sonny Vickers and James Wright also took their oaths after winning re-election.

Mayor Fretti says the combination of new and old will get Valdosta off to a good start this year.

"The dynamics of council, after four of us being together for four years. We just read each others thoughts and click and you are just going to see a very active and cohesive council this year," says Mayor Fretti.

District two councilman Willie T. Head became Mayor Pro Tem.

He'll remain in that position until his term ends in 2009.
