Albany - It is early January but the college baseball season is just around the corner.
Darton College returning to the practice field for the first time in the spring semester on Thursday. Head coach Glenn Eames is excited about this year's team based on what he saw during fall practice.
The Cavaliers return pitcher Dexter Bobo who has already signed with Georgia Southern.
First baseman Jake Summers from Lowndes High will lead the offense.
The Cavaliers will be young in the other positions but have plenty of talent from a recruiting class that landed players from some of the top high school programs in the state in Heritage and East Coweta High Schools.
Darton will be better this season but coach Eames says so will the entire region.
Glenn Eames said "Young Harris is looking very good. Middle Georgia had a very good recruiting year and had a great fall. The other team that had a very good year last year and really lost no one is Gordon College. "
The Cavaliers open the season on January 26th at home against Okaloosa-Walton Community College.
