Tifton- The murder trial for Jamie Underwood is postponed again, but this time it's because there's not enough money to pay public defenders because of the Brian Nichols' murder case in Atlanta.
Underwood is charged in the home invasion and murder of six Hispanic men in Tifton in 2005. Judge Gary McCorvey issued an order suspending the case because funding for the Georgia Public Defender's Standards Council and the Capital Defender's office is insufficient.
There's no money to pay Underwood's defense attorney's or for their preparation of the case. They say Brian Nichol's death penalty case has drained the budget. Underwood's case was postponed in August and originally scheduled for next month.
