Valdosta woman turns 106

January 10, 2008

Valdosta - A Valdosta woman is turning 106 and is sharing her secret for a long and healthy life.

Essey Allen Spruel will turn 106 this Saturday, but friends and family are celebrating her accomplishments all week.

Spruel says she has constantly surrounded herself with good people and say knowing and understanding the Bible is what keeps her going.

"Do onto others as you would have them to unto you. I've been doing that for a whole 106 years and if I can add to that, proceed," Essey says.

The congregation at Morning Star Baptist Church will hold an official birthday celebration this Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

They invite the entire community to drop by, wish Essey a happy birthday and help celebrate her life.
