Macon, Ga. - At its monthly meeting today, The Georgia State Board of Funeral Service issued fines to three mortuaries in Southwest Georgia.
According to a press release from the Secretary of State's Office, the board levied fines for inspection violations to settle these cases:
Alvie Coes Funeral Home, Unadilla: Inspection citation totaling $100 for two incidents of failure to maintain in inventory the required 24 bottles of arterial fluid and 24 bottles of cavity fluid in the embalming room.
Peoples Funeral Home, Abbeville: Inspection citation of $100 issued which included $50.00 for failure to maintain in inventory the required 24 bottles of arterial fluid and 24 bottles of cavity fluid in the embalming room, and $50 for failure to display current licenses for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director, or any apprentices licensed with the establishment.
Nance & Sons Mortuary, Inc., Cordele: Inspection citation of $350 which includes a $50 fine for failure to display current licenses for the establishment, embalmer, funeral director, or any apprentices licensed with the establishment; and a $300 fine for failure to maintain the required minimum inventory of eight adult caskets. The inventory was deficient by three caskets.
The next meeting of the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service is scheduled for February 12, at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
