Albany-  The check's in the mail, and it could keep the South Georgia Peanuts from getting sued.

Friday was the deadline for the Peanut's parent organization the South Coast League to pay their light bill that hasn't been paid in eleven months.

In December, the city sent the league a letter informing them if they didn't pay the $38,000 dollar by Friday they would sue. City Attorney Nathan Davis hadn't heard a word until this afternoon.

"That's an absolute last resort. Hopefully the check will come in Monday or maybe. The no contact at all is somewhat disappointing until now," said Nathan Davis, Albany City Attorney.

Friday afternoon the league promised to wire the entire amount owed to the city. The city expects to receive the funds Monday.
