January 3, 2008

Albany - The final polls for the 2007 college footballseason will not be released until Tuesday.

Georgia fans are already looking forward to the 2008 preseason polls that will be released in August.

With 17 starters back from this season's team that went 11-2 and won the Sugar Bowl, Georgia expects to start the season ranked in the top five, maybe even number one.

Even with a veteran team, Georgia facing a tough road to a national title in 2008.

Road games at South Carolina, Arizona State, LSU, Kentucky and Auburn plus home games against Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia Tech and there is the big game in Jacksonville against Florida.

Sophomore quarterback  Matthew Stafford said "We are not going to be shy about saying it. I think we have the talent to do it. We just have to stay healthy and play hard."

Freshman linebacker Rennie Curran said "We have got a good start having a bunch of young guys coming back with experience and everything like that. We can only build on that."

Head coach Mark Richt said "We are going to have a more veteran team that we have had in a while. I think we will have some good depth. I think we will have a chance to make a run at it but so does about six or seven others in the league."

Georgia will open the 2008 season on August 30th against Georgia Southern in Athens.
