Fitzgerald --  A South Georgia manufacturer faces more than $71,000 in fines for safety problems.

OSHA cited Modern Dispersions South in Fitzgerald for 12 safety violations after a June 30th fire at the plant which sent four workers to the hospital. The fire occurred while workers tried to unclog a machine of carbon black powder and plastic pellets.

OSHA labeled one violation a willful safety violation in which the company put production schedules ahead of employee safety. Ten are serious violations, and one is other-than-serious.

Modern Dispersions has 15 working days to contest the proposed penalties.
